Daisy Hand Embroidery Pattern for Beginners (Free Pattern + Video Tutorial)

If you are looking for an easy and calming daisy hand embroidery project, this wild daisy design is a lovely place to start.

Lately, I have found myself needing projects that feel simple and manageable. Complex embroidery pieces can be beautiful, but they also ask for more time and energy. This simple wild daisy pattern has been a nice reminder that easy projects can still feel meaningful and satisfying to complete.

For this daisy hand embroidery project, I am sharing a free pattern, color suggestions, and a YouTube stitch tutorial that walks through each stitch.

The tutorial demonstrates three basic embroidery stitches used throughout the design, making this a beginner-friendly project while still creating a finished piece with beautiful texture and detail.

I have found it necessary to work on embroidery projects that can be completed in a shorter period of time, and this pattern fits that need perfectly.

It is peaceful stitching that comes together fairly quickly, which makes it especially enjoyable when you want a creative project that does not feel overwhelming.

In this daisy hand embroidery tutorial, we use three essential stitches:

  • Stem stitch for the stems, which creates soft flowing lines
  • Satin stitch for the petals, giving each flower a smooth filled look
  • French knots for the flower centers, adding lovely little pops of texture

Most of the stitching is done with two strands of embroidery floss, which gives the flowers a soft but full look without becoming too bulky.

If you are newer to embroidery, these are wonderful stitches to practice because they are useful in so many future projects.

I created this pattern to be simple and flexible to use.

You can scale the pattern up or down depending on the size you would like for your finished piece. As drawn, the design measures about 4½ inches by 4 inches.

I stitched mine in a 6-inch hoop and framed the finished embroidery in a 5-inch hoop, which gave it a nice full look.

I make my embroidery patterns in the Procreate app on my iPad using the Monoline Calligraphy brush. I enjoy designing this way because it keeps the lines clean and easy to transfer onto fabric.

Simple floral designs like this are also very forgiving, which makes them especially nice for beginners who are still building confidence with stitches.

Supplies

Take a closer look at my favorite hand embroidery supplies.

For this project, I used DMC floss, which continues to be my favorite embroidery floss to stitch with. The thread feels smooth, the colors are beautiful, and it always stitches nicely for me.

I also used:

  • Nurge Stand 19-4
  • Nurge beechwood hoop with brass closure
  • Tulip needles
  • 2 layers of cotton fabric

Having tools you enjoy working with can make the whole stitching process feel even more relaxing.

DMC Colors Used

For this wild daisy embroidery, I used:

  • 986 — Forest Green Very Dark
  • 744 — Yellow Pale
  • BLANC — White

I love how these simple colors keep the finished piece feeling fresh, soft, and bright.

Quick Hand Embroidery Projects Help Manage Pain

Beginner embroidery projects that do not take too long have become essential for me, especially with neck and shoulder pain limiting how long I can comfortably work.

Even so, I am grateful to keep creating, keep stitching, and keep finding ways to work on what I love.

That is what I enjoy most about embroidery. It does not need to be complicated to feel meaningful. Sometimes a small project, a few simple stitches, and a quiet creative moment are enough.

I hope this little daisy hand embroidery project brings that feeling to you too.
